Hayward SP071620T Vari-Flo XL Top-Mount Multiport Valve (2″ FIP) with Clamp & O-Ring
The Hayward SP071620T is an OEM Vari-Flo XL 6-position multiport control valve designed for top-mount Hayward Pro Series sand filters. It features 2″ female threaded (FIP/FPT) ports for high-flow plumbing, an easy-turn lever handle, and a top-mount clamp connection for fast service access.

Valve Functions (6-Position)
- Filter – normal filtration and vacuuming
- Backwash – cleans the sand bed by reversing flow
- Rinse – resettles sand after backwash
- Waste – bypasses the filter and sends water to the waste line
- Recirculate – bypasses the filter while returning water to the pool
- Closed – shuts off flow (pump must be off before selecting)

Installation Notes

Maintenance Tips
- Backwash when filter pressure rises about 8–10 PSI above your clean starting pressure.
- After every backwash, run Rinse briefly before returning to Filter to help prevent blowback.
- If you see water leaking to waste while filtering, inspect the internal diverter/spider gasket and seals.
- Keep clamp and sealing surfaces clean during service, and replace the tank O-ring if it’s flattened, cracked, or stretched.
